Repairing and mounting a small mammoth tusk
This partial Woolly Mammoth tusk was in several pieces and was cracked and warping when it arrived at
our conservation studio.
We stabilised the specimen, glued the pieces back together and
consolidated the material. We then mounted it with a polished plaque of oak and specially-shaped
metal brackets lined with inert Plastazote foam:
