'Conservation of fluid-preserved specimens' courses delivered in 2014

In May 2014 Simon Moore taught a course on the conservation of fluid-preserved specimens at the Zoological Museum at the Danish University in the north of Copenhagen. Unsurprisingly the attendees were largely Danish and Swedish. There were some interesting specimens to work on and an assortment of older jars as well (below left). They also used a small-scale alcohol recycling machine (below right). These work well but given the staff time taken to operate them only yield a small profit through their use.

In June 2014 Simon held another fluid-preserved specimens course, at the Horniman Museum in London, which was also well-attended and included a few international students as well.
